While he never knew his half-sister, with the death of his parents, he will be very reliant on Mitsuko to help him recover from the trauma he suffered. ![]() After fathering Mitsuko Kamiyama and being dismissed as Midori's companion, the Kitsune Raidon Nagamori left Japan to find his own way in the world. He ended up in Canada. He chose to live in his human form and eventually met a Metahuman named Ceridwen Bryce. They were married and Ceridwen gave birth to a son: Logan. Because of his inability to hide his ears, Ceridwen kept her son away from other people, feeling they would tease him. Because of this, he was a real mama's boy-- almost completely dependent on his mother. She was the only person he could really call a friend. He wanted to be around people his own age, but was never able to. When he did go out, he was forced to wear a hat to cover up his ears, which he found very uncomfortable. When he was six, Ceridwen and Raidon fought fiercely over whether or not Logan should attend school. Ceridwen wanted to homeschool him to protect him from the world, while Raidon wanted him to gain self-confidence and friends outside of home. Raidon won out in the end and Logan was sent to school. He was painfully awkward around the other students, especially as it was a human school. The few times he did speak to other students, Logan always felt he had to hide who he was, lest he accidentally reveal himself as a preternatural. But he eventually made a few friends he treasured dearly. When he was ten, Logan's fear of discovery was realized. A bully started to pick on him and, while he tried to avoid it, they got into a fight. During the fight, Logan's hat was ripped off his head and his ears were revealed to the school. Everyone-- even his friends-- thought he was some sort of freak. Devastated, Logan ran home in tears to his mother. The Nagamoris immediately moved to escape the persecution they were sure would come. Logan was now homeschooled by his mother and stayed away from other people, locking himself in his own world. At the age of thirteen, he developed a crush on the girl next door. He never spoke to her, but he would watch her from his window. He desperately wanted to connect with her, but couldn't bring himself to go near her. While thinking about her before bed, he discover his powers of dream manipulation. He was able to influence her dreams and experience her emotions during her sleep. This became his way to connect with people without risking his fragile emotions with actual contact. As his magical talents developed, so did his other talents. He began to pour his sadness and loneliness into art, becoming a skilled painter. His father sold his paintings to local galleries and he earned quite the reputation in British Columbia. Part of his popularity was his mystique, as he never appeared in public. He became aware he had a half-sister, born several years before him. He was intrigued by her, only hearing rumours about the adventurous Mitsuko Kamiyama. He collected everything he could about her-- pictures from fancy parties and articles about things she was rumoured to have stolen. His mother-- hating that Raidon had a child before they met-- told Logan that Mitsuko wanted nothing to do with him. In truth, Mitsuko had no idea her half-brother even existed. The Nagamori family kept themselves so isolated, they didn't know about the virus and oncoming war until the first of the outbreaks. Raidon's natural instinct was to find guidance with the leader of his skulk, Midori. He took his wife and son to Japan and were told to proceed to Elysium, where they would find Mitsuko already safe. The trek across Asia was perilous. The Nagamoris had to avoid major cities or run the risk of being caught in the bombings. They came across people dead or dying, but could take no time to aid them, their own safety paramount. Along the way, they found orphans who had lost their parents in the war. The first they found with Chris and Charlie Jung, who they took with them to find Haven. Logan found his first friends with the Jungs, protecting them fiercely, as if they were his siblings. The later took in young Maddy, who treated Logan as if he were her older brother. For a short time, he felt accepted. Logan's powers as a Dreamwalker began to trouble him as he would use them at night and would see nothing but nightmares. His mother helped him avoid the more disturbing nocturnal visions, but what he saw had as much of an impact on him as anything he personally saw. As they neared Elysium, they took shelter in a building for the night. A warhead hit the building and brought it down. Ceridwen died protecting Logan, shielding him from debris that fell on them. His psyche already fragile from everything had had experienced, this loss broke him and Logan was rendered mute. With the death of his mother, Logan began completely unable to control his dreamwalker abilities, witnessing the horrors of the dreams of those in their vicinity. Logan's traumatized mind almost seem to seek out the darkest of nightmares. His inability to control his dreams has left him with acute insomnia. Almost at the border of Elysium, Raidon was revealed to have been critically injured in the blast that killed his wife. Logan dragged him to safety and he, along with the orphans they had been protecting, hid in a run-down building. With Raidon's injuries having grown worse from their travel, Logan was forced to take the leadership and protector role, despite his muteness. They remained here for a week before they were found by the scouting party sent out from Elysium. Finally safe, Raidon succumbed to his injuries. Logan watched his father die and was taken to Elysium to finally meet his half-sister, the only family he had left. His long journey to the haven was finally over, but only time will tell what the full ramifications of it will be on his tortured mind. |
